<image:caption>Bridgepoint Music, a new music charity based in Rye, was founded with the sole purpose of changing people’s lives through the power of classical music. The organisation has two main branches, The Bridgepoint Ensemble, which is a collection of some of the finest professional musicians in the country who come together in Rye and at other venues to give concerts as well as pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation through masterclasses and chamber music coaching. They will also be involved in taking music to care homes across the region, performing to people who can’t always get to a concert hall. The second branch is Rye Music Centre, which will comprise the Bridgepoint String Orchestras, three ensembles for school-aged children. Find out more about our manager, founder, trustees, and events below.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Bridgepoint String Orchestras has been running since the Autumn of 2022 as the Rye Music Centre. These orchestras are for children and young people from a range of schools in Kent and East Sussex who come together to take part in high-quality string ensemble playing. The groups have a mix of ages and abilities from pre-Grade 1 to Grades 5, 6 and above. Tom Elliott, a former member of The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, an experienced violin teacher, workshop leader and ensemble director, takes the group. Membership of the Bridgepoint String Orchestras is £50 per term, which covers the 10 rehearsals every term plus concerts. <image:title>Bridgepoint In Mind - < About Us / Bridgepoint In Mind Bridgepoint In Mind</image:title>
<image:caption>At Bridgepoint Music, we believe that high-quality live performances should be available to everyone, from school children to families and audiences of every background, age, race and gender. Sadly, people who live in care homes are often unable to go to live events and the provision of great musical experiences within the homes are often patchy or non-existent. The pandemic has only exacerbated the sense of cultural isolation that many care home residents feel and therefore, as soon as we are able, we want to start a new venture, Bridgepoint in Mind, which will involve our musicians giving live performances in care homes across East Sussex and Kent. The benefits of hearing live music, responding to it, singing along and feeling part of the performance can be a hugely powerful experience for all and particularly those living with dementia. The social and therapeutic benefits are enormous and helping those that are excluded from the cultural sphere is a high priority for us. We don’t just expect the sit in a glass box and wait for people to come and hear us play in the concert hall- we also bring music, to life. To join us on our quest to shine the light of musical joy into come of the forgotten corners of society, please get in touch with our manager, Tom Elliott on the Contact Us page, or make a donation via the Donate Now button.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Tom Elliott graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1998 and immediately embarked on a busy career as a freelance violinist. After playing with many of the country's leading orchestras, he was made a member of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in 2001. It became clear to him that once the second of his four children were born, the frantic international touring schedule of the orchestra was not well suited to family life. Tom made the decision to leave his playing career behind and concentrated on teaching and soon after, he founded Glossop Music Festival in 2014. The experience of staging and organising high-quality music events created a path for him into full-time management, and he was given the opportunity to run the Northern Chamber Orchestra in Manchester, which he did until he moved with his family to Kent in 2018. Now he divides his time between running Bridgepoint Music, teaching classroom music, giving one to one violin lessons and being Engagement Manager for Hastings International Piano Competition.</image:caption>

Beatrice is an enthusiastic teacher and has coached and run junior courses for MusicWorks Chamber Music.
